Recording phrases via phone

To whom it may concern:
I am trying to record the messages/phrases within our survey via phone. For some reason the recording is cutting off whenever there is a vocal pause. At first, I thought it was a file size issue, but this anomaly occurs at the end of the first sentence. Is there any way to delay this? Thank you for your help.
